NO KINGS, NO CAMPS!
Saturday, March 28th (2-4pm)
Baker Park Bandshell
IN AMERICA, WE HAVE NO KINGS
When our families are under attack and costs are pushing people to the brink, silence is not an option. We will defend ourselves and our communities against this administration’s unjust and cruel acts of violence. America does not belong to strongmen, greedy billionaires, or those who rule through fear. It belongs to us, the people.
Join us on March 28th as we continue our rejection of this regime and the lawlessness of ICE. In solidarity with Indivisibles across the state, we are pushing back against detention camps in Maryland! #nokingsnocamps
Note: This event is a family friendly, community engagement event. A core principle behind all events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation experienced at our rally.
POST EVENT ACTIONS
This mass mobilization day is a tactic, but your participation in holding up our democracy depends on moving towards more concrete actions. Building community in our communities is how we’ll set up ourselves for a better future. If you’ve ever asked, what more can I do? We have a few answers for ya:
REGISTER TO VOTE. And make a plan to do so in the primary and general elections.
Check your registration and ask 5 friends to do the same: https://www.vote411.org/lwvmd
You can vote by mail, drop your ballot in a ballot box or vote in-person. If going to a ballot box or in-person voting location, invite 5 neighbors and/or friends to carpool
GET INVOLVED. Join a community advocacy group.
There are several community organizations across the City of Frederick. Democracy does not happen by itself, it requires participation from every day citizens like you and us. Community organizations bring the threads of fabric together to create real-life opportunities for everyone. You’ll learn a lot about community care programs, legislative action, candidate vetting, canvassing, etc when you join. Find a group that works for you!
BUILD COMMUNITY IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD.
Host a block party. Have a community dinner or BBQ. Help an elderly or ailing neighbor with their garden. Talk to folks about what’s going on and how you’re feeling. It’s more important than ever that we get to know and build relationships with our neighbors.
SUPPORT BOYCOTTS AND DIVEST.
Billionaires have power because we are funding the corporations they get their money from. If able, let’s strengthen our resolve to participate in national boycotts. Amazon, Target and Home Depot are blacklisted. Others may soon follow.
